Delight.....

"Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives
the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
You will again have compassion on us;
You will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea."
Micah 7:18-19
I read these verses this morning and couldn't help but imagine 'delighting' in showing mercy to someone who had wronged or hurt me. I looked up the Hebrew meaning of the word 'delight' and here is what I found- "to desire, want, take pleasure in, be eager, to have a fondness or affection for an object or an experience, to be willing, to do something not by force, implying a voluntary choice". I was so blessed by this definition and I hope you are as well. God delights in showing mercy to his children. He is eager to forgive our sins. He has a fond affection to the experience of throwing our iniquities into the depths of the sea.
I can't speak for your feelings but these verses give me reason to Praise God today! How thankful I am that He is eager to forgive me! Eager- not slow in forgiving! Anxious to forgive! How thankful I am that He takes delight in showing me mercy! My prayer today is to follow in his footsteps and be eager to forgive those who sin against me! May I too have a fond affection for the practice of forgiveness against others!
Blessings,
Lori
