Today I wanted to share something with you by Max Lucado. It is great food for thought!
"Our problem is not so much that God doesn't give us what we hope for as it is that we don't know the right thing for which to hope....Hope is not what you expect; it is what you would never dream. It is a wild, improbable tale with a pinch-me-I'm-dreaming ending. It's Abraham adjusting his bifocals so he can see not his grandson, but his son. It's Moses standing in the promised land not with Aaron or Miriam at his side, but with Elijah and the transfigured Christ. It's Zechariah left speechless at the sight of his wife, Elizabeth, gray-headed and pregnant. And it is the two Emmaus-bound pilgrims reaching out to take a piece of bread only to see that the hands from which it is offered are pierced. Hope is not a granted wish or a favor performed; no, it is far greater than that. It is a zany, unpredictable dependence on a God who loves to surprise us out of our socks and be there in the flesh to see our reaction."
I don't know about you but I personally need to 'hope' in something bigger than myself- something bigger than my eyes have seen my ears have heard or my mind has concieved. And, I want to be one who is willing to try something so big that if God isn't in it, I will fail. I would much rather fall flat on my face trying to do something for the Kingdom of God than sit and do nothing! What about you? When is the last time you hoped like that?
I truly believe that for the many of us there is more life to be lived than we are currently living! There are surprises to be had that will just knock our socks off! There are dreams to dream and work to be done! There are failures to be had and successes to be won! Ask God for a hope that dreams bigger and a hope that is willing to step out on faith and take a risk!
Blessings,
Lori
