Ladies, You are never going to believe where and how I'm writing this post. Bet you will never guess! I'm at Gabe's baseball practice (in the rain) and I'm typing on my cell phone. Who would have ever thought modern technology would have brought us this far? Of course for me personally a sweet man I know is helping to bring me into this century (really-i'm thinking I am way beyond my time at this very moment! ha!)
Blogging by phone is really hard work! I am already beginning to get a cramp in my fingers from this small keyboard! One has to wonder what medical condition will be invented from this sort of typing. Finger-tunnel?? Oh now I really believe I am way ahead of my years- just kidding!
If my fingures can stand it let me dive into a topic a bit deeper than finger cramps. I sat in church yesterday and was moved to tears as I listened to a precious man of God with a 40 year tenure in the same congregation preach his heart out. He brought a message on the amazing grace of God that just refreshed my soul and almost brought me to sobs. He spoke from Luke 15 (the story of the father with 2 sons- AKa: The Prodigal Son). I related on every level of this story. I saw myself as the younger son who asked for his inheritance, received it, left home, and squandered his money on wild living. I also related with the pious son who could'nt believe his Father would welcome and celebrate the retun of his rebellous brother.
What touched me the most during this pastors sermon was that his heart for those of us listening to get this one message down...to really GET IT and NEVER FORGET IT! And the 'it' is--the Mercy and grace of a loving Father who would not say to the child who came home "You blew it!" YOu see our Father see's us from a distance (because he has been waiting anxiously for our return) and he runs to meet us. He throws opens his arms, embraces us, and then lavishs us with gifts.
Beloved, that's our Father. Sometimes we stay gone from home so long- searching for what we think will bring us happiness- only to find we at it all along.
Maybe today you need to run home and feel the loving embrace of your Father. He is waiting in the distance- watching and ready to throw a party on the behalf of your return. That's grce my dear sisters- amazing grace.
Love to all,
Lori
